Skate Step, Glide your way to cool

The Skate Step, done right, looks effortless, stylish, and like you’ve grown wheels on your boots. 😎
Done… less right? Let’s just say it can look like a determined march to the snack table. 🍿

👉
So let’s fix that.

✨ What’s Really Happening
At its core, the Skate Step is a forward-traveling pattern where your foot slides diagonally away from your center—and your body actually goes with it. You then use follow through and swivel to the other diagonal to travel down the line of dance.

🎵 The Rhythm  1 (2) 3 (4)
The magic lives on counts 2 & 4—that’s where the follow-through and swivel bring everything together

Let’s Break Down the Counts
1 – Step your right foot forward on the right diagonal (about 1:30)
2 – Left foot slides in under your body (no weight) + swivel on the ball of your right foot to face front (12:00)
3 – Step your left foot forward on the left diagonal (about 10:30)
4 – Right foot follows through (no weight) + swivel back to center

🔥 Pro Tips to Level Up
✔️ Keep your toes in contact with the floor as you “skate”
✔️ Feet stay parallel the whole time (no duck feet 🦆)
✔️ Swivel on the ball of your weighted foot for smooth redirection
✔️ Keep your shoulders square to the wall while your hips swivel to the diagonals
✔️ Step onto a straight leg, then soften your knees as your feet come together

🌟 Final Thought
Don’t just do the step… own it 💃
Add a little style. A little glide. A little attitude.
Because when you nail the small details of the Skate Step… 👀 people notice.
